22-year old artist Arvida Byström has created a new photo series regarding selfies and gender identity. Her pink and glitter images are more subversive than they seem and resulted from the artist's lack of jobs and places to live in her native Stockholm.

After moving to London she's put on multiple shows, she developed a style that is easily recognizable due to the fondness for pink and glitter. She often uses herself as a subject, but although her art seems girly, there is a subversive, couldn't-care-less attitude about it that combines her 90s aesthetic with a very modern take on femininity, sex, gender and identity.

Her take on selfies appears to be a neutral one, but she uses them to learn about herself and people around her.
