“Delphi showcased an infant seat with electronic sensors that warn you if the baby is not securely fastened. Statistics from roadside clinics conducted by SafeKids Worldwide show as many as 90 percent of all child safety seats are incorrectly installed. Without being properly secured, even top-rated seats won’t keep a baby as safe as possible in an accident. This new Delphi infant seat has a removable carrier that attaches to a base secured in the car. An electronic pad snaps into the side of the carrier. Press the “test” button on the top, and if the seat is secure a green light comes on to verify it. Otherwise, one of four red lights illuminates to indicate: The base is not secured tightly, the seat’s belts are too loose on the baby, the seat is tilted inappropriately, or the carrier is not securely latched to its base. These are four of the most common errors safety experts find at roadside checkpoints. If either the vehicle or the carrier belts are not buckled, those belts will not be tight enough and it will trigger the corresponding red light.” (Consumer Reports) References: consumerreports.orgComment: on Self Testing Child Safety Seat |
