 Self-Replicating Machines There is a small percentage of the population who fall into the ‘sci-fi geek’ category. Within this group lays an even smaller one: the end-is-near group. These folks predict that robots will eventually learn to create themselves and ultimately, take over the world. With technology advancing at exponential rates, the belief may not be that off base. This video is a case in point. It shows a robot that self-replicates. It has begun! Hod Lipson is one of the researchers in this field of robotics.  In 2001 Hod Lipson joined the departments of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and the faculty of Computing & Information Science of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He is also a member of the Computer Science and Computational Biology graduate fields at Cornell.
