Wallpaper good enough to eat

Do you remember that scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory where Gene Willder introduces the groups of prize-winning kids and their parents to lickable wallpaper that actually taste of snoozeberries? This was the stuff that dreams are made of. I remember as a child I would dream of this unimaginable world of “pure imagination” where everything is edible, from the fruit flavoured toadstools to the drinkable chocolate river. So I was super excited when I came across Flavor Paper an Orleans-based wallpaper company that makes scratch and sniff wallpaper. Okay, it’s not lickable (that would be too messy and let’s face it plain unhygenic), but Fruit Cocktail Collection contains a range of fruit inspired prints which actually smell like they look. There’s a banana print which smells like bananas and cherry print which smells like cherries. It’s pure genius. And if you’re more of a savoury person, check out Alex Schweder’s Still-life of Beefsteak and Cheese. “Made in collaboration with Dieter Janssen this line of wallpaper explores color and scent in relation to their construction of a “succulent” space”.
