Sawa shoes have recently joined Cape Town's Shine Shine in a printed footwear collaboration. Shine Shine specializes in quirky fabrics and prints from which handbags, clutches, pillowcases and trays are made. Sawa is based out of Cameroon and is an activist-led and internationally adored shoe label, which now constructs its own leather sneakers in Ethiopia.

Shine Shine has applied its notoriously humorous African iconography to Sawa's shoes, and the upshot makes a bold style statement while contributing to and supporting the economy of the continent the two companies represent.

The high-top sneakers themselves are leather lace-ups with thick, rubber soles and black leather toe contours. The Shine Shine's print is featured along the sides and backs of the shoes with a red suede stripe down the middle. The fun print spruces up an outfit in seconds.
