Anti-Santa campaigners claim Father Christmas ‘scares children’ and detracts from the true spirit of the festive season.  In addition, Santa is being removed to accomodate Austria’s rising Muslim population, “As Muslims continue to increase their populations in Western countries more western traditions are being removed—said to be attributed to fears of offending Muslim groups.”

Austria’s biggest Christmas market is in front of the Vienna city hall where thousands of visitors march past stalls offering everything related to Xmas - except Santa.

 The Christian origins of Christmas, like the birth of Jesus, have receded into the background. It's becoming more and more a festival that is reduced to simply worldly gifts and commerce. Due to outcries from parents and others in Austria, the Austrian school system announced Friday that limited 'visits from St. Nick' will now be allowed in the country's kindergartens. (IDIVIDI.mk)
