ROTATO! - Peeling Made Easy

Of all the old infomercial fads that I can recall, I’m surprised this one didn’t last longer.  The Rotato potato peeler is a mechanical peeler, which allows the cook to peel potatoes, apples, other foods more easily than a traditional hand-held peeler.  This is especially useful for people who are pressed for time, or have some physical problems with the old-style peelers (i.e. arthritics).

As shown here, the user simply skewers the potato onto the bottom spike, secure it with the top handle, then use the mechanical arm to rotate the potato against the blade.

Perhaps the clever, yet cheesy play on words of “ROTATO”, was partially responsible for this not becoming a common household item?
