Buro Sent En Co's Roombeek 'The Brook' Uncovers a Natural Waterway

What was once hidden underground has been brought back to the surface thanks to the Roombeek The Brook project. To the delight of Enschede residents, the natural stream that gave the district its name has been recently uncovered to introduce a touch of nature back into the city’s concrete jungle.
Designed by Buro Sent En Co, Roombeek The Brook may have been heavily stylized to better blend into the city’s contemporary setting, but it also features an asymmetrical design that widens and narrows along the street in order to accentuate its different spatial features. Within the stream, a distinctive pattern of sharply edged stepping stones pays homage to the randomness of natural processes while also embodying the beauty of firework explosions.
