Heavy metal artists celebrate the birth of Christ in an unconventional way and wish listeners a rocking New Year! A Seasonal music CD recently released by Armoury Records (UK) features rock and metal versions of Christmas songs by various artists including Bob Kulick, Bruce Kulick, Alice Cooper, Chris Wyse, Jeff Scott Soto and Ray Luzier, to name a few. It’s aptly titled ‘We Wish You a Metal Xmas and a Headbanging New Year.’

Frankly, I am not a die hard metal fan, but being used to soft and soulful versions of Christmas songs like that of Olivia Newton John’s ‘Silent Night’, I must admit that the chemistry between the different band members coming together for this collection gives an electrifying new twist to the usual ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas.’ It also includes other Christmas-themed songs such as ‘Run Rudolph Run’ by Dave Grohl, Lemmy Kilmister, Billy F. Gibbons and ‘Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer’ by Stephen Pearcy, Tracii Guns, Bob Kulick, Billy Sheehan, and Greg Bissonette. Breaking away from the conventional versions of Christmas songs, it might be a hit or miss collection for many but it is certainly a one of a kind listening experience!
