Ash, the Northern Ireland Britpop group announced they will only release their music on the internet. According to Tim Wheeler, leader singer, their sixth album “Twilight of the innocent” will be the last to be released in CD.
The record sales have been decline rapidly. Last year sales of CDs in U.S. dropped down to 20 percent while digital music sales have nearly doubles to £1 billion.
Lead singer Tim Wheeler revealed that the Northern Ireland rockers would be dedicating ourselves wholly to the art of the single for the digital age. We have our own studio in New York, we can record a track and release it the next day if we feel like it, give it to people while its fresh. We're the first band to do this but I doubt very much we'll be the last, he said.
