The 2008 Guinness World Records named an anthropomorphic robot the world’s first robot sommelier. The 40 cm robot was developed by Mie University Team and NEC System Technologies Ltd tastes wines via a sensor in his hands. By holding the bottle, the robot is able to determine the type of wine and grapes used.
