Rescape is an incredible augmented reality gaming platform that takes the player's real-world surroundings and turns it into a first person shooter game using the player's smartphone. It is the creation of visual computing company 13th Lab.

The Rescape device is a combination of a gun-shaped hardware game controller and software for a smartphone. Players attach a fish eye lens attachment to their smartphone, widening its field of vision. This is combined with a technique called 'Simultaneous Location and Mapping' (SLAM), used by NASA in robotics projects. The SLAM technique tracks player movements and digitizes their surrounding environment. It superimposes a chosen canvas over the surroundings and allows players to interact remotely with each other.

The first batch of Rescape devices will support iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. However, the company does plan to launch an Android version in the future.
