The Re:route smartphone app is an London-based program that rewards iOS users for doing a good deed for the planet—and their waistlines.

Created by Recyclebank and supported by Transport for London, the mobile application divvies out points to users that opt for taking cleaner and more environmentally friendly methods of transportation, as well as to those who burn the most calories doing so.

After inputting one’s destination into the phone, a user can use the app to calculate various alternative methods of arriving there using public transit, a bicycle or by going the distance on foot. Once the user arrives, they will be awarded points based on how much carbon dioxide they have saved and how many calories they shed by being more active.

Once a number of these points have been accumulated, the user can cash them in for discounts on purchases at participating retailers such as Waffle House, T-Mobile and Sears. Stats for Eco-Supporting Smartphone Rewards Trending: Older & Mild
