Mexican Turtles Are The New Viagra & Nearly Extinct

Turtles in Mexico are a protected species, but that doesn’t stop people from killing them for the eggs they swear are more potent than Viagra. To help put a stop to this practice, Mexico has launched ad campaigns featuring sexy models advertising that “her man doesn’t need turtle eggs, he’s potent naturally”. I don’t know how that’s supposed to stop turtle killing if your man isn’t potent naturally.

Implications - The use of animals as resources for human advancement and pleasure is nothing new, but when the use of these animals extends beyond necessity and into gluttonous indulgence, animal protection agencies step in to prevent what they perceive as animal cruelty. Where lectures, speeches and statistics have proven ineffective, campaigns opt for controversial, buzz-worthy images and tactics that are reminiscent of corporate advertising strategies.
