A pastry chef at New Orleans' Windsor Court Hotel recently created a gold-encrusted birthday cake for Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday. While most of the Queen's birthday celebrations have been limited to the UK, this decadent creation demonstrates that Britain's longest reigning monarch has just as many fans on this side of the Atlantic.

The lavish birthday cake was created by Chef Shun Li in honor of the Queen's special day. The dessert itself consists of a dark chocolate cake coated in gold-covered chocolate, gold-covered strawberries and a later of gold-dusted chocolate crunch. The entire cake is then encrusted in 24-karat gold and topped with a 3.95-carat ruby and diamond ring. The entire dessert is valued at approximately $90,000, making it a treat that is truly fit for a queen.

The pricey dessert demonstrates the lengths people across the world are going to in order to mark Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday.
