JR, a French photographer turned street artist, has grown famous for his giant black and white portraits. His work has appeared all over the world, from painted shanty towns in Rio to portraits in public spaces within Wuppertal, Germany and murals in Berlin, the U.S. and Jerusalem.

His art work appears on nearly any facade or surface, so long as it is public. JR’s work is also featured in several prominent museums worldwide. In 2008, JR’s work has appeared in London’s Tate Modern Museum, Cartagena, Spain; Geneva’s Musée Rath, and Brussels, Belgium.
