This public pool table is encouraging people to gather and play in the urban environment of Place Graslin in Nantes, France.

Constructed of resin and concrete, the public pool table is durable enough to exist in its outdoor environment. The material and design also allows it to blend in perfectly to its natural urban surroundings. The table was built to be able to accommodate a game of eight-ball or blackball, but players are encouraged to create their own rules, and indeed, the games are reportedly slightly more competitive and exuberant than traditional play.

Urban spaces exist to create a sense of community and friendliness in a way that is open to all citizens. This public pool table is a wonderful use of community space -- it draws people in and gives neighbors an excuse to bond and connect.
