With so many films out there with dystopian themes -- from The Hunger Games to the recent release of Insurgent -- it is no surprise post apocalyptic fashion is hitting the runways. Trend Hunter Writer and Editor Jana Pijak shares her top picks for survivalist couture, from apocalyptic apparel to hazmat suit fashions to anti-germ transit jackets.

One example of post apocalyptic fashion is an Antonio Guzzardo editorial with a dystopian theme, complete with bio-hazard graphics and even gas masks. Inspired by a
movie, experimental upcycled fashion consists of sustainable wearable items mixed with conceptual pieces. A QIAODAN Menswear Collection was presented during the ebola outbreak, and its hazmat-inspired attire acted as a commentary on society's fear of disease. In a similar vein, the Germinator coat has anti-bacterial properties for commuters.
