Pope Benedict XVI blesses Ferraris
[Edit]
The new Pope is blessing Ferraris.
“VATICAN CITY—There were more than just Catholic pilgrims and tourists gathered in St. Peter’s Square this weekend for Sunday prayers. A fleet of 45 shiny Ferrari sports cars were parked in the square ahead of Pope Benedict XVI’s weekly blessing. The event was put together by an international association of enthusiasts.” (NBC 4)
That may seem odd, but the old Pope was given a Ferrari by the 2004 world champion Forumula 1 team, so I guess there’s a long history between the Vatican and the italian auto maker:
“Ferrari president Luca Montezemolo said today the Italian Formula One team would build a special car for Pope John Paul II to mark his 26 years as pontiff, “We will make a Ferrari Formula One car especially for the pope,” Mr Montezemolo told reporters on a visit to the Vatican. However, Mr Montezemolo drew the line at changing the colour of the car from its customary red to a different shade that the Holy Father might prefer.” (Catholic News)
