John McCain snubbed the wrong talk show host when he canceled an appearance on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ to help create legislation for the financial crisis. John McCain made an apologetic appearance on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman,’ blaming nobody but himself for his much-ridiculed cancellation last month.

David Letterman hammered John McCain on multiple nights for not showing up for the scheduled taping of ‘The Late Show,’ but then making an appearance on ‘CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.’ John McCain told David Letterman that he needed to cancel his appearance to return to the Senate to work on the economic crisis. David Letterman said repeatedly while skewering John McCain that the road to the White House ran through him. Time will tell if he is right, but John McCain wasn’t taking any chances.

"I screwed up. What can I say?" the Republican presidential nominee told Letterman on Thursday night's show. There was, however, a silver lining, said McCain. "Look at all the conversation I gave you," he told Letterman. (people)
