In addition to creating a new type of product within an existing category, Plus Gum reimagined a familiar packaging system.
Plus Gum comes from a start-up that produces marijuana-infused gum, which is slow-releasing in order to prevent its gum chewers from feeling completely "debilitated." As a product that could induce the same kind of buzz as a few alcoholic drinks, the packaging for Plus Gum needed to emphasize that this is a product exclusively for adults.
Rather than adopting the traditional shape of a blister pack, which might mislead the average consumer, the interior of the gum packaging was styled to reveal six cutout squares that provide a peek at the foil-wrapped gum pieces beneath. The artful gum packaging design is complemented with hazy psychedelic patterning on interior and exterior flaps.
