Japanese electronic musical instrument manufacturer Roland has gone ahead and unveiled a wonderfully high-tech new synth, named the System-8 Plug-Out synthesizer, that is designed to make it easier than ever for musicians and producers to go about utilizing sounds that will remind keen-eared music-listeners of old-school synths.

The System-8 Plug-Out synthesizer's incredible functionality is due to the fact that, in addition to features such as sequencers, vocoders and a whole army of knobs and buttons, the device can actually be used to control anywhere between one and three external Roland software synths.

By expanding musicians' ability to call upon a wonderfully expansive range of sounds that they can shape and mold, Roland's new synthesizer aims to broaden our conceptions of what synthesizer-generated music can be.
