Planting Empowerment is a sustainable forestry company based in Washington, DC that does its work in rural Panama. In 2011, it won the WWF Switzerland and Ennovent's Tropical Forest Challenge alongside Runa.

The organization was founded in 2006 after a service doing Peace Corps in Panama. The goal is and has always been to support investments in the agroforestry industry that at the same time has positive social and environmental impacts. Today, they develop partnerships in the local community in order to share knowledge -- a partnership that goes both ways.
