Auctioned Art to Bring Multi-Millions- Picasso For Purchase

Hundreds of millions of dollars of Picasso artwork will be sold February 5th at Sotheby’s. One of the paintings with the most interest will be Tete de Femme of Dora Maar. Maar was the muse and lover of Picasso and was the subject of many of his masterpieces. This painting alone is expected to sell for between $13 and $17 million. "This market has reached an interesting moment,'' said Simon Shaw, head of impressionist and modern art at Sotheby's, London, in a telephone interview. "We've been used to strong growth at sale after sale, but now the volume of new buyers at the highest level is slowing a little. I can't say this was the easiest auction to put together.''
