Photographer Ninelle Efremova is a shutterbug with an eye for capturing models set against backdrops that are equally as non-traditional as they are original. Born in Belarus but currently based in Los Angeles and Paris, Efremova was bitten by the photography bug when she began taking photographs of details and models for her work as an illustrator.
As a photographer, Ninelle Efremova cut her teeth snapping shots of bands and rock stars, and her experience in the music industry seems to inform much of her fashion photography work. In this shoot, Efremova teamed up with established Israeli-American model Janelle Fishman to create a mistily backdropped editorial entitled 'Fire in the Blood.' Fishman is an instantly recognizable face and has been photographed by fashion industry heavyweights like Terry Richardson and Ellen von Unwerth. She has toplined ad campaigns for brands ranging from Ecko Red, Levi's, Kenneth Cole, and Buffalo jeans.
For this shoot, photographer Ninelle Efremova captured Fishman in a series of heavily fogged shots that see Fishman in colorful, flowy dresses, each effusing a carefree swagger that is ratcheted up in class and sex appeal by her stoic, poised facial expressions. My favorite capture from the editorial features Efremova capturing Fishman as she crawls through the mist, her steely gaze directed at the camera in an alluring and mysterious manner. Fishman's raw talent is on display, and so is Efremova's ability to capture a very different look for a very familiar model face. Do not be surprised if you begin to see her name attached to major fashion editorials. If this shoot is any indication, her future in the competitive world of fashion photography is bright.
