Using no electricity whatsoever, just pure acoustical engineering, the Phonofonics II will amplify the output from a set of earbud headphones connected to a music player to 55 decibels (about the maximum volume of laptop speakers). Only 200 of these unique retro modern acoustical design marvels will be made and at $875 I don’t think they have to worry about iPhone like lines of fans.  The Phonofonics II looks more like a futuristic Vinyl player designed by Apple. However the Gramophone look a like a is a blast from the past with a modern twist. Using passive amplification it transforms any personal music player + earbuds into a sculptural audio console. Without the use of external power or batteries, the Phonofone inventively exploits the virtues of horn acoustics to boost the audio output of standard earphones to up to 55 decibles which is roughly the maximum volume of laptop speakers. Upon connecting active earphones to the Phonofone their trebly buzzing is instantly and profoundly transformed into a warm, rich and resonant sound.
