The Sketchbook Project recently launched their Pen Pal Painting Exchange, a collaborative art project that connects artists from around the globe. The Brooklyn-based company is known for organizing various projects like this one by encouraging creativity and collaboration between strangers with similar interests.

Illustrating how art can bring people together, the Pen Pal Painting Exchange is an opportunity for two strangers to exchange art with one another. Each of the project's participants is paired with a like-minded individuals and is given a small canvas that measures 4″ x 4″ in size.

The participants also receive content guidelines and a canvas bag that is customized. Once a particular work is finished, both participants are to mail their completed painting to one another. Once received, the artists can compare the different ways they approached the subject matter that was given to them.
