The paper-made sculptures in Jongjin Park's Artistic Stratum series are ambiguous forms that take the shape of unique pieces of art.
The sculptures are created with an unprecedented technique that includes using paper and porcelain slip -- painting the porcelain slip between thousands of layers of paper towels. Once each creation takes shape, it is fired at 1280 degrees which burns away the paper and leaves the porcelain slip behind. The result is a completely ceramic structure that was designed with the help of an unusual layering process, contributing to depth and movement. Some of the sculptures are densely compressed while others show the layering of paper in more detail.
These paper-made sculptures are as beautiful as they are innovative, capturing the attention of art fans with their ambiguous forms.
