Pabst Blue Ribbon: Not Just a Cliché Anymore

How much mockery can one brew endure? Long the cliché beer of choice for rednecks and old folks, Pabst Blue Ribbon has street cred but nobody knows about it. The Milwaukee made swill peaked in the mid 1970s but has gained cult status all over the United States. Most notably in the pacific northwest where microbreweries often best the major labels. In 2006, PBR won the Brewers Association’s top prize at the American Beer Festival for Best American-Style Lager. Pabst Brewing Co. also won the gold medal for Best Large Brewing Company. At the 2006 World Beer Cup, PBR earned the title of Best American-Style Premium Lager.
So, with all those accolades and the bargain price of $7 for a twelve pack, why aren’t you drinking it?
