Do you remember the kid who was selling pixels of ad space a while back? Great concept! Well, now the concept has been taken one step further with ourTVad. Advertisers can buy single frames of video going at $39 a pop.
The end result is a great big conglomerated advertisement made of up little tiny ads.
An incredible concept! It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
ourTVad has set out to sell video ads frame by frame, for $39 each. Even a 15 second clip could include so many individual frames that the average viewer would be hard pressed to distinguish just one. A company could just buy more than one frame to get more visibility, and this is what ourTVad is hoping for.
Their site is promoting the first few frames as the most important. These valuable frames aren’t up for sale quite yet, though. They’ll be auctioned off on eBay once the rest of the clip frames have been purchased. The biggest concern with ourTVad is their hopes for distribution. They’re hoping to get enough press coverage that the clips will be shown on the news, and on our favorite video-sharing sites. This shouldn’t be terribly difficult. Other than a news story, though, I’m not sure how they plan to sell their clip for any real commercial time.
