Viktor & Rolf are known for their wild design sensibility, so it came as no surprise when they designed the costumes for the German opera “Der Freischutz” with giant flowers, lightning bolts and incredible amounts of Swarovski crystals.

The team of Viktor and Rolf recently debuted the looks for the opera, as well as a video chronicling some of the making of the designs. Wild styles for the opera house this year!

Implications - Having this kind of eye-popping, artful costuming is a great way to attract younger audiences to an increasingly unappreciated art form. The costumes are so extravagant and extraordinary, it's almost worth the trip to the Opera House just to grab a glimpse.
