 Sicily Quake-Damaged Fixer Uppers Mayor Vittorio Sgarbi has an aggressive plan to help revive his tiny town of Salemi, Sicily: Sell earthquake-damaged homes for one euro. Salemi was struck by an earthquake 40 years ago and the town hasn’t recovered since. Pop artist Peter Gabriel is one of the several international notable figures who has shown interest in the community as a result of Mayor Sgarbi’s plan.  What's the catch? The homes being offered for sale were all damaged in the earthquake and will require extensive renovations to be made liveable. Buyers will be expected to finish the renovations within two years and will not be allowed to make any changes to the original style of the home.
