After World War II, it's said that US soldiers hid hundreds of old cars in the southern Belgian village of Châtillon because it was too expensive for them to ship them back home. Apparently, they had every intention of retrieving the vehicle, but now that it's 70 years later, those same cars sit in the same spot, being reclaimed by the surrounding forest.
It's really an amazing site. The haunting photo series has been captured by an unknown photographer, which makes this revelation even more curious. At one point, there were four car graveyards in the city with as many as 500 retro vehicles. Unfortunately, most of the cars were stolen or removed by the locals.
Still, the photo series is eerie and equally impressive.
