iPhones, cell phones and the internet created a viral outbreak near America’s White House on election night, but not the kind that threatened Washington’s health.

Henry Champ, White House Correspondent for CBC News in Canada reported live from the White House on November 4th that thousands of Barack Obama supporters flocked to the gates of the future President’s Washington address to celebrate the election of the first African American President of the United States.

Champ said the growing crowd caused alarm for the US Secret Service after energetic students and young people from dorms and houses nearby began using text messages to organize friends to join them for the makeshift demonstration.

Video showed an excited but non-violent crowd, chanting and celebrating Obama’s win.
