Nuno Veloso Captures Sky-High Braided Updos for ‘Fierce’

How could I possibly resist an editorial called ‘Fierce’? This Nuno Veloso pictorial combines a few of our favorite fashion phenomena for 2009, from artfully-ripped leggings to cutout maillot swimsuits and giant chunky neckwear. In many of these shots, the model wears runner’s shorts atop leggings—a move that screams out 80s chic.

My favorite aspect of Nuno Veloso’s ‘Fierce,’ however, are the outrageous hairstyles the model wears. In the first two images, her hair looks like a palm tree, fronds and all! In others, the braids are twisted to look more like bonsai trees. Fierce, indeed!
