For an inspirational video that challenges the gender stereotype of geek culture, watch ‘Nothing to Prove’ by the Doubleclicks.

This video begins with a compilation of women holding up signs proclaiming their ‘geek-ness’ and being proud of what they love. As the video plays on, the women begin holding signs with challenges they face for being a geek girl. For example, young girls are being told by boys they are not “real gamers” and women who work in comic book stores are ignored because customers only want men to help.

The message the Doubleclicks want girls to take away from this video and their lyrics is just because you are a women it doesn’t make you a “fake geek”; women can like anything they want and have nothing to prove for their to validate their interests.
