NASA and Etsy's Space Craft Contest saw hundreds of hopeful designers submit their space-inspired designs to the two organizations, but chief among them was the stylish, quirky and surprisingly informative Northstar Table from ColleenWhiteley.
Designed by Colleen and Eric Whiteley, the Northstar Table features a circular wooden surface with brass inlayed stars on its face. The Northstar Table really gets intricate, however, with its placement of stars, which are in the exact same position relative to each other as they were on the night of the first moon landing. Best of all, in order to open the table's drawer, one must correctly determine which of the table's stars is the North Star.
It's not often you get to combine education and aesthetic design into your furniture, but that is definitely one achievement the Northstar Table from ColleenWhiteley has covered.
