The result of an alliance between Nike and Bausch & Lomb, Nike MAXSIGHT is a soft contact lens that will be available in two glare-reducing tints that selectively filter specific wavelengths of light within the visible spectrum to aid visual performance during various outdoor athletic activities.
Can you describe the two tints of Nike MAXSIGHT lenses and what makes them different?
The Grey-Green tint is designed for activities that occur in bright, sunny conditions. The Amber tint is designed for cloudy or variable light conditions.
How is this different from cosmetic lenses?
Cosmetic lenses are typically only tinted in the portion of the contact lens that covers the iris and are for enhancing or changing eye color. Nike MAXSIGHT tints cover the entire lens and are used to enhance contrast of objects relative to their background.
Is this is a replacement for sunglasses?
No, while Nike MAXSIGHT reduces sun glare and filters 95% of UVA and UVB light and more than 90% of blue light, they are not substitutes for protective UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses because Nike MAXSIGHT does not cover the entire eye and ocular tissue.
