The original Yankee Stadium, home to over 6,500 games since 1923, is finally being torn down, to the chagrin of countless fans. The ‘real’ Yankee Stadium will be torn from its former Bronx location after tonight’s final game, and rebuilt right adjacent to it, a $1.6 billion reconstruction. Sounds weird considering it was built right next to the original Yankee Stadium location, but that enabled the New York Yankees to continue to play in Major League baseball games throughout the construction, which began in 2006. Hey, look at the bright side. The former Yankee Stadium will be converted into green space after demolition, so in honor of that, I’ve gathered some of the best innovations in public parks and green skyscrapers to celebrate the latest in green urbanation.
