A collection of surreal escapist paintings by Hernan Bas is going to be showcased at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery in New York City.
The Miami, Florida resident, who is best known for his dark supernatural and Neo-Gothic creations, is releasing a new collection of paintings at the show titled: ‘The Dance of the Machine Gun & other forms of unpopular expression.’
A bold display of fantastic imagery blended with conflicting vivid colors and juxtaposing ideas best describes his new work which represents a resurgence in this surreal art movement.
The show’s title, “The Dance of the Machine Gun & other forms of unpopular expression” references the “Futurist Manifesto” by F.T. Marinetti the Italian poet, editor and founder of the Futurist movement.
