New Mexico to Build Roswell Alien Theme Park

In July, 1947, a UFO crash was reported in Roswell, New Mexico. At the time, the US Military claimed that the incident did not involve a UFO, but rather a top-secret weather balloon. However, every summer, the town celebrates the anniversary with a UFO festival. Now, town officials are planning an alien theme park called the Alien Apex Resort, which will be privately built and managed and could open as early as 2010. The proposed theme park will cover 60 to 80 acres, expanding to 150 acres in later years.  Businesses here have been cashing in on the UFO craze for years _ paintings and replicas of UFOs and space aliens adorn downtown buildings, and even the McDonald's and Wal-Mart are UFO- and space-themed.
Now city officials want to take it to another level with a UFO-themed amusement park, complete with an indoor roller coaster that would take passengers on a simulated alien abduction.
