Naughty Edible Art for Any Occasion

In tough economic times, people always look for inexpensive ways to still enjoy their “guilty pleasures,” and that’s proven true in the cake business, as sisters and business partners Barbara Accogli and Monja Chiara have found out.

Running their business CakeStar, which includes the tag line, “Edible Art for Any Occasion,” has been a joy for the two, who have been in business together since 1998.

Business really took off when they introduced some naughty birthday cakes at the 2008 ‘Everything to do with Sex Show’ in Toronto, and they haven’t slowed down since.

Not only has business been great during the recession, but the duo say it has even been picking up lately. Nothing like hard times to get that sweet tooth craving.
