To help launch the groundbreaking Flyknit technology developed by none-other-than Nike, the myThread Pavilion was created. A biologically-inspired installation, it channels the intricate aesthetic behind the marriage of design and engineering of this innovative material.
Part of a larger Flyknit Collective, the myThread Pavilion joins other sculptures and art installations in celebrating this creation. Unveiled at various locations in the United States, China, Brazil, Japan, Italy and the Uni Kingdom, New York City-based architectural designer, artist and educator Jenny Sabin represents the first with her myThread Pavilion.
Located at Nike's Bowery Stadium, the myThread Pavilion was created using data generated from participants wearing Nike Fuelbands over the summer. Crafted through tension knitting, the spiderweb-like installation was formed through the creation of solar-activated, reflective and photoluminscent threads held down by aluminum rings and steel cable nets.
