Visiting or residing in Butt Hole may sound downright weird, but for some people in the UK, there’s just no escape from places with such strange names. Embarrassing as it may be for a lot of people to have Crapstone in their home address, there obviously is no escape. The list of suggestive street names is large, with places like Crotch Crescent, Titty Ho, Wetwang, Thong, and Penistone spread across the landscape, and the list does not end there. A debate rages towards keeping these names for the history and culture or changing them to something less offensive. Whether these changes materialize or not depends on the future, but imagine the look on the cab driver’s face when you ask to be taken to Pratts Bottom!  “Sniggering at double entendres is a loved and time-honored tradition in this country,” Carol Midgley wrote in The Times of London. Ed Hurst, a co-author, with Rob Bailey, of “Rude Britain” and “Rude UK,” which list arguably offensive place names — some so arguably offensive that, unfortunately, they cannot be printed here — said that many such communities were established hundreds of years ago and that their names were not rude at the time.
