Weird Unsustainable Technology for Super-Lazy Diners

The Landfill Prizes for 2009 have been announced. At the top of the heap: the motorized ice-cream cone. It’s hard to believe that this must-have for those who can’t manage rotating their own ice cream cone has been so maligned, but there you have it.

Another item on the list: the battery operated twirling spaghetti fork. Is this really wasteful, or will it mean that many more people will suffer carpal-tunnel injuries from twirling their own spaghetti?

John Naish, author of Enough is the originator of the Landfill Prize. The prize is designed to "celebrate the stupendous creativity of the people tasked with inventing constantly inflated new wants for us to want. It’s a monument to perverse imagination and needless consumption.”
