You say tattoos are passé. Maybe if you are 21 they are, but I predict a new trend amongst the rebellious older set. My mother is not a biker-chick, but she doesn’t play bridge or get her hair done either. She wears jeans and canvas sneakers; she doesn’t wear polyester slacks or orthopedic shoes. She is bucking the stereotypes of women, even at her age. Other than daily grooming, she is not a primper, although recently she started to get pedicures because she can’t reach her toes any more. The first time I saw her with painted toe-nails I was even more shocked than I was today upon seeing her latest body art. I can hear you wondering why an old lady would do such a thing. Think about it. Body art covers otherwise embarrassing age-related imperfections. Spider veins an issue? Add more lines; it hides them beautifully. Don’t fight what you have, work with it. This is a woman who knows what it means to be independent, liberated. If your mother is like my mother, think about giving her the gift of body art this year for mother’s day instead of taking her to brunch, or buying her a pedicure. She suggested this site to me, which is where she got her ideas from: Why not? Life is too short not to live it fully. References: ssteindesignFiled In: |
