The Iranian photographer Mohammad Reza Domiri takes photos of mosque architecture that showcase the beauty and complexity of the religious building's designs.

The mosques represented in this hypnotic photo series are amazing feats of architecture, and are all centuries old -- with some dating back all the way to 550 BCE. By capturing the symmetry with which these pieces of architecture were created, the photographer shows their significance as even more than religious and historical buildings. The detailed and colorful tiling, enormous arches and stained glass are all designed in a way that preserves and protects the history and culture of the times.
