“This table will self-destruct,” notes the product page. Well, not literally. The table is made by Studio1am and the way it works is that every time they make a table, it will be slightly smaller than the previous one by virtue of the fact that one pixel will have been removed. That tells us that 1. The tables are not mass produced which is something very easy to deduce and 2. WTF!
Anyway, I’m pretty sure there are perfectly sane reasons for this concept.
This table will self-destruct. The top of the table is structured as a grid of concrete pixels. Each time a new table is produced, one pixel is removed from the design. Following these rules of self-destruction, the shape becomes more intricate as it diminishes. This project converges elements of mass production and handmade craftsmanship, resulting in a limited edition series of entirely unique tables that will continue until the shape is no longer practical. (The tables are made of)Concrete blend uses a combination of slag and fly ash, industrial byproducts, to replace traditional cement. The table base is made of reclaimed walnut. Specifications- 7.5”h x 18.75”w x 18.75” d. Weight: 48lbs
