Teen Sex Sells - Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair Issue is Best Seller (GALLERY)
[Edit]
Miley Cyrus proved to us something we already knew: sex sells. Now, however, we have the numbers to back it up. Vanity Fair caused a media storm a few months ago with their June issue that included a “controversial” Miley Cyrus photoshoot. Even though Miley was not on the cover of that issue (it was an old picture of Bobby Kennedy), her controversy helped the magazine sell over 435,000 copies at newsstands. That was the strongest selling Vanity Fair issue since November 2007.
Not only that but Vanity Fair received a record-breaking 915 letters. Most of these letters were negative, but the issue captivated people enough to write to a magazine. Something almost no one does these days.
Granted that the Disney star was wearing clothes under that blanket (as you can see by the images in the gallery), it was still deemed too risque and provocative for a 15 years old teen star.
Miley seems to have learned the lesson early in her career. When she’s not participating in controversial shoots (and blaming the photographer for it), she occupies her time by taking private risque photos that end up showing on the Internet and raising the star’s profile more and more. Go Disney!
