Like similar music composition programs, Microsoft Songsmith records your vocals; unlike these programs, however, Songsmith analyzes your melody and supplies you with background music meant to match it.

Professional musicians can sing a melody and know exactly which chords to play with it. Amateurs and casual singers don’t necessarily have this ability. Microsoft’s Songsmith makes songwriting an equal-opportunity endeavor. There are several different genres of music, and a considerable level of user-friendly customization to make Songsmith’s songs even more personalized.
